How to Calculate Protein Per Dollar
Divide a container's approximate price-band midpoint by its total grams of protein (protein grams per serving × servings per container) to get a cost-per-gram-of-protein figure that's comparable across brands and tub sizes — a materially more useful number than price-per-pound or price-per-tub.
The one thing to know: Protein-per-dollar is arithmetic, not opinion: take the grams of protein per serving from the Supplement Facts panel, divide by the price-band midpoint, and you get a value class you can compare across brands regardless of tub size or scoop count. A tub that looks cheaper per-pound can be more expensive per gram of actual protein once you do this math — and the reverse is just as common.

- Total grams of protein = grams per serving × servings per container.
- Price-band midpoint — we use an approximate price band, never an exact price, since prices change constantly; take the midpoint of that band.
- Cost per gram of protein = price-band midpoint ÷ total grams of protein.
